Review: It Ends With Us, by Colleen Hoover. 6 out of 5 stars… (if that’s even possible)

This book crawled inside of me and hugged my soul. Everything about the story itself, as well as the characters, is very powerfully eye-opening!  If there has ever been a question in your mind as to how domestically abusive relationships get as far as they do, or why exactly women stay with their abusers then you absolutely have to read this book! It Ends With Us is absolutely capable of pulling emotions out of you that you didn’t even know was possible. Colleen Hoover has mastered the art of developing a personality in such detail that you can’t help but to relate on the most personal of levels.
Everything about us humans is uncovered, leaving our otherwise hidden fragile underbelly exposed for the world to see what were capable of.  The beautiful, the nasty, the love, the hate, and even overwhelming confusion isn’t merely portrayed in this book, but its felt. On. Every. Level. It’s an outstanding love story within a love story within a love story.
Lily, the main character, (written in first person) is no stranger to domestic violence. She grew up in an abusive home. Not so much toward herself, but to her mother.  She watched first hand as her mother was beaten regularly by her father. As an adult Lily is independent and determined to live her life exactly opposite of her mother.
The men who weave themselves into her life (and her heart) are strong-willed powerful men. Both of them have overcome their own childhood struggles. They’ve grown into driven, successful beings, and their interactions with Lily are both unique and equally authentic. Lily feels her love AND other emotions, on a level that’s so intense it becomes borderline overwhelming. Talk about a page turner!
This is hands down the best book I have read in at least a year or two. Not only will I recommend it, but I will nag all of my friends until they have all read it, because if I don’t have someone to talk to about it then I might die.  I’m bursting at the seams with emotion and if it were possible to give a book 6 out of 5 stars then this would be that book!

The newest, highly anticipated novel from beloved #1 New York Times bestselling author, Colleen Hoover.
Sometimes it is the one who loves you who hurts you the most.
Lily hasn’t always had it easy, but that’s never stopped her from working hard for the life she wants. She’s come a long way from the small town in Maine where she grew up—she graduated from college, moved to Boston, and started her own business. So when she feels a spark with a gorgeous neurosurgeon named Ryle Kincaid, everything in Lily’s life suddenly seems almost too good to be true.
Ryle is assertive, stubborn, maybe even a little arrogant. He’s also sensitive, brilliant, and has a total soft spot for Lily. And the way he looks in scrubs certainly doesn’t hurt. Lily can’t get him out of her head. But Ryle’s complete aversion to relationships is disturbing. Even as Lily finds herself becoming the exception to his “no dating” rule, she can’t help but wonder what made him that way in the first place.
As questions about her new relationship overwhelm her, so do thoughts of Atlas Corrigan—her first love and a link to the past she left behind. He was her kindred spirit, her protector. When Atlas suddenly reappears, everything Lily has built with Ryle is threatened.
With this bold and deeply personal novel, Colleen Hoover delivers a heart-wrenching story that breaks exciting new ground for her as a writer. Combining a captivating romance with a cast of all-too-human characters, It Ends With Us is an unforgettable tale of love that comes at the ultimate price.

You should definitely make this the first of hers you read! it’s fantastic! I try to read mostly up coming Indi authors, just to give my support as a fellow indi. Then every month I choose at least one best seller to get my head in a professional well-reputed mode, so I can learn from the authors and study their technique and flow.. Anyway, this month I was really choosy on the best seller I picked. I asked around quite a bit and read a bunch more reviews than normal and I’m so glad I did!! its a beautiful book!

  4. Yay! I’m so glad you loved it! 🙂 xoxo
