Standalone Sunday is a meme created by Megan at BookslayerReads. Where each Sunday you feature a book that is a standalone (not a part of a series) that you really like and would recommend to others. (Visit the BookSlayerReads page for more info).

standalone-1

The Shack by WM Paul Young for me was a GAME CHANGER!!  Talk about a whole new outlook on practically every negative opinion you’ve every had about anyone or anything EVER!!  This book was recommended to me a few years ago by a couple of my in laws. It took me months to read it at the time because I had chocked it up as a ‘God book’ and let my judgmental assumptions get the best of me.  I told my family that I’d get around to reading it eventually, but at the time was in no mood to be pressed with religion.  Boy was I wrong, and boy was I glad that I finally caved in and read it!!! (I’ve actually read it three times now!)

MY REVIEW:

If you happen to be someone who is holding onto some kind of grudge, no mater how big or how small, or if you are struggling to forgive then PLEASE READ THIS BOOK!! It doesn’t matter your religion or spiritual believes, because in a weird somehow magical way it’s still on point… and powerful!!  Although it’s considered fiction, the story itself and the message it gives feels real, striking true on so many levels.  It’s one that will flow through every part of you. I went into the read skeptical, experienced the story like a biggest of bawl babies, and put it down a better human being.

DESCRIPTION:

Mackenzie Allen Philips’ youngest daughter, Missy, has been abducted during a family vacation and evidence that she may have been brutally murdered is found in an abandoned shack deep in the Oregon wilderness. Four years later in the midst of his Great Sadness, Mack receives a suspicious note, apparently from God, inviting him back to that shack for a weekend. Against his better judgment he arrives at the shack on a wintry afternoon and walks back into his darkest nightmare. What he finds there will change Mack’s world forever.

In a world where religion seems to grow increasingly irrelevant The Shack wrestles with the timeless question, “Where is God in a world so filled with unspeakable pain?” The answers Mack gets will astound you and perhaps transform you as much as it did him. You’ll want everyone you know to read this book!

GREAT READ!!! You don’t want to pass this one up!
