The ability to transform emotions is a gift. The greatest of writers recognize this gift. They accept it with grateful humility, and they use it, regularly. With the flick of a wrist and the stroke of a key great writers are able to mold any scene into an emotional event. They can make tragedy beautiful, and horror loved. Which goes to show that words are among the most powerful of tools, and the ability to bend and use them at our will can easily be recognized as greatness in its purest form.
Writers build and create wondrous things, and they can destroy those things just as easily. I like to think of this talent as a blessing. Some are more blessed than others, obviously, but it IS a blessing nonetheless. It’s a blessing that has to be earned, improved on regularly, and developed. The ability to place another human being’s mind and heart in the palm of your hand, and then squish, twist, bend and mold it into what ever you want like Silly-Puddy, is a wondrous thing!
Any piece of literature that can turn a bad day into one of the best, or a great day into a devastation is truly a force to be reckoned with!
I don’t know about you, but I long to posses this talent in every way. I like to think that some day’s its with in my grasp. I’m close, and although it takes some people a LIFETIME to work up to being the really GREAT writer they aspire to be, I hope I can get there a little sooner than that. Either way, that’s my goal. Whether it takes months, years, or even decades, I’ll do it. Recognition is the first step, then determination.
