Standalone Sunday is a meme created by Megan at BookslayerReads. Where each Sunday you feature a book that is a standalone (not a part of a series) that you really like and would recommend to others. (Visit the BookSlayerReads page for more info).
The reasoning behind my choice this week obviously needs no explanation. If you have never read, came across the tittle, seen the movie, or even heard of Gone Girl then you have absolutely no business reading a book blog in the first place (no offence intended). Gillian Flynn is an amazingly talented Author, and Gone Girl is in my opinion her best piece. The story line is EPIC! The characters are not only developed but they are disciplined, calculated, and painted like a masterpiece. If you have yet to read this book then by all means do so! You wont be disappointed!
THE #1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER
On a warm summer morning in North Carthage, Missouri, it is Nick and Amy Dunne’s fifth wedding anniversary. Presents are being wrapped and reservations are being made when Nick’s clever and beautiful wife disappears. Husband-of-the-Year Nick isn’t doing himself any favors with cringe-worthy daydreams about the slope and shape of his wife’s head, but passages from Amy’s diary reveal the alpha-girl perfectionist could have put anyone dangerously on edge. Under mounting pressure from the police and the media—as well as Amy’s fiercely doting parents—the town golden boy parades an endless series of lies, deceits, and inappropriate behavior. Nick is oddly evasive, and he’s definitely bitter—but is he really a killer?
