MY REVIEW:

I wish this book would have been a little quicker with the pace. It’s one that I had to put down several times and then pick back up weeks later. It’s actually taken me a while to review this book because I was just so indecisive on how to feel about it, like the ENTIRE way though. Some chapters I loved and some just seemed to drag on and on and on and on……

As a whole, the story line is great. It bounces around a lot in time frame, but it actually ties together nicely, and all the secrets throughout come crashing to the surface at the end (Thank God, because so many unanswered questions and all the buildup is really all that kept me coming back). I had a hard time deciding on the rating because I tried blaming my mixed emotions on a reading slump. But, after long since pulling out of that said “slump”, and looking back, I’ve decided that it wasn’t a slump at all, but in fact just a struggle with this very book.

Leah, the main character is a little depressing. She’s isolated herself for good reason, but her outlook and day to day activities really just bring you down as the reader. Also, her mother is the only person left in her life that really loves her and wants her around, yet Leah still avoids and pushes her away which drives me nuts! She makes a couple friends at her job at a library, and she talks herself into joining a dating site.

Leah is constantly in a mental state of turmoil based on one single event of her past. It’s always on her mind, as if she can’t stop mentally reminiscing the event. Yet, somehow the book avoids giving away the details on the actual event until the end…. Hence the suspense and secrets…

I’m not going to lie, it’s been months since I read this book. I’m only now reviewing it, because I’m just FINALLY making up my mind on how I felt about the whole charade.. My conclusion is this: I’m ranking it as a permanent mixed emotion and am giving it a 2.5/maybe 3…
