My Grandma’s A Writer!

My grandma, Doris, has always been a poet, and a great one at that. A few years ago, she compiled all of her poetry in one project. My cousin helped her type them all out and publish them in one book. It wasn’t made public or for sale. She just wanted all of her grandkids to have a paperback copy of her work, to pass on as a part of herself.

She really is just the sweetest!

Let me just tell you, these poems are stunning! They’re absolutely beautiful, and I cry every time I read through them. Needless to say, my copy of this book of poetry is tucked away in my cedar chest to be held sacred forever!

Well recently, my grandma came to me asking if I’d help her on a writing project. Of course I was esthetic! I can’t even tell you how elated and proud I was! I was so excited I practically jumped on the pretty ol’ bird! You’ll never guess what her project ended up being!?

SHE WROTE AN ENTIRE NOVEL!

That’s right guys!  My grandma in her seventies wrote her first book!  Of course she doesn’t know the first thing about computers, so this is winding up to be quite the project. I’m going to type and edit the entire book. Based on the fact that the first (5 of her pages) ended up being 13 typed, it’s going to be a decent sized book. A novella at the least!

It’s a Romantic Western, and so far its absolutely LOVELY! She is so talented, I can’t even believe it!  Words can’t express how proud I am of my grandma! I’m going to share the poem that she plugged into the first pages, before jumping into the book.

THE MOUNTAINS ARE MAJESTIC

AS THEY RISE TO MEET THE SKY

THE DESERT IS A WORK OF ART

THAT ONLY GOD WOULD TRY

THE SUNSETS AND SUNRISES ARE MASTERPIECES

PAINTED BY THE MASTER’S HAND

I SEE HIS TOUCH IN EVERYTHING

ACROSS MY VAST HOMELAND

ALL MY LIFE I’VE LIVED HERE

I NEVER WANT TO ROAM

JUST LET ME LIVE AND DIE HERE

PARADISE VALLEY IS MY HOME
