Where Do You Turn For Uplifting Inspiration?

Inspirational reads are everywhere. When you’re in need of some uplifting words or self-love advice where do you turn? (really though, I’d love the feedback!)  I’ve read some awesome stuff here and there. Some that I’d even wished later on that I would have bookmarked, because I couldn’t for the life of me find it again. But, I’ve also read some super repetitive and common sense stuff.  It can be hard to find that wonderful slice of unique inspiration. The kind that really clicks and stands above all the rest of the mundane happy advice.

I’m pleased to say that this morning I came across some outstanding reading!  I completely devoured an article by Julia Flynn, in her article over at the Conscious Talk Mag titled Behaviors That Guide And Sooth When Life Falls Apart that offered extremely helpful and realistic advice on ways that can help pick oneself (and others) back up in times of struggle, be it everyday hardship or anything larger. It offered some very refreshing balance! Julia also has an impressive blog called Unbreakable Joy, if you’re not already following, you should check it out!

This particular article explains the reasoning and complexities of the down trodden happenings in life, and it offered several outstanding ways to rise above the negativity. It’s realistic and extremely helpful! Here are just a couple of quick quotes of my favorite bits and pieces of Julia’s words:

– Look for how we can make lemonade out of lemons.  Attitude is everything. A delayed flight (falling apart) can give us an extended and unexpected quiet or alone time (chance to come together). A loved one having unexpected surgery (falling apart) gives us a chance to reflect on the meaning of the relationship. This reflection can become a caring and loving note we write then share with them. (coming together).

– When reaching mental or emotional saturation or exhaustion ask for help or momentarily step away. Our goal is being available to problem solve and/or care for ourselves or someone else. If we are saturated with words bouncing throughout our brains or heavy emotions pulling down our hearts we will be less capable of making decisions that guide the situation into “coming together.”

These are only a couple out of several tips and explanations in this insanely helpful and inspirational article. Check it out! Behaviors that Guide and Sooth When Life Falls Apart.

Thanks so much, Didi! I get inspiration from Martha Beck, Brene Brown, and almost anything Buddhist. Actually, there is one more place. My own intuition is chock full of inspiration and guidance! More than I ever thought possible.

  4. Wonderful article. Thanks for sharing. I have a couple books, Didi, that I rely on for inspiration. One of my all-time favs is Anam Cara by John O’Donohue. I also like browsing the web, but I sort of have to know what I’m looking for in order to find it. 😀
