Well it’s official guys, the first draft of my next physiological novella Justice for Belle is in the first round of edits and BETA reads! It’s such a bitter sweet feeling to finish up a manuscript! Kind of like, I want to dance and celebrate. But, it would have to be an awkward self-conscious kinda’ dance. The kind of dancing that speaks a thousand words of emotion, promise, excitement, potential and more… yet there’s just something about it that screams coming out into the world hoping people will like me, and actually appreciate my surprises lol
A couple of weeks ago I used up your time whine and complain about my struggles in finishing up the last couple of chapters. I knew where I wanted to go with this story, but just hated each way I wrote it out. I’d delete and redo, delete and redo. The whole ‘round after round of revisions process’ was a pain in the ass. It was a frustrating mess.
Several of you commented and told me to take a break. I took the advice, and actually did a full weekend unplug. I went camping with my adorable little family and really enjoyed the time away from electronics of all kinds! I star gazed, breathed in fresh mountain air, hiked, played in the dirt with my children, and even had a few much needed drinks with friends and family.
After the unplug, I took the break a step further. I spend a couple of days relaxing. I meditated, did plenty of yoga, took a couple of bubble baths, and ordered out dinners. (my husband really loved these days, I’ll tell you what!) Anyhow, it was a success! I was able to clear my head and come back with a nice clean slate to work with! I calmed the beast, and got the job done with a fresh outlook!
Next stop, wait… And wait… And wait.
Editing is my least favorite part of writing (like most authors, I’m sure!) This time around I’m working with a new gal. She’s an AMAZING writer and I have all the faith in the world in her. I can’t wait to see what kind of suggestions she comes back with along with the corrections!
Now, if you’ll excuse me… I have to go back to waiting while she hits the nail on the head. 😉
