Writing Progress in the Fall

I have some very exciting news, that I’ve kind of been waiting to announce! There is so much going on right now, progress made, changes taking place, bookish goodness in the works, I honestly don’t know where to start! Usually when I’m between projects I loose my mind a little (Binge Everything… Even Writing)… Okay, okay, even when I am in the middle of a project, I loose my mind a little. LOL my point is that this year has been different, especially the last couple of months of it.

It’s been a while since I wrote an update post, and even longer since I gave a full run down. So here goes!

As many of you who have been following this blog for a long time know, my first book was practically stolen from me by a very shady publisher. I won’t get into too much detail aside from the fact that The Stix is in my opinion porely written (as MANY first books are, so don’t judge me!) and it wasn’t edited nearly enough before published. The company I signed away with has long since been in breach. They refuse to pull my book, pay me any proceeds, or update a recent version. Which sucks, because the story is excellent, and I care oh so much more about having the best version of my work out there than I do about the money!  So, here’s what I’ve done… a RE-WRITE! That’s right folks, a switched about rendition has been completed and is currently in the editing process. I’m hoping it’ll be ready soon, but I’m sorry I can’t give a date just yet. It’s titled Sketch and will hopefully bring the story itself into some better light.

Next up, an update on Justice for Belle!!  I’ve talked about this beautiful little psychological novella a couple of times this year. This been my WIP for the majority of 2018. I finished up the second draft just over a month ago, and passed it off to an editor. It’s about half way through the editing process and at that point I’ll send it away to my NEW PUBLISHING AGENCY!!!

YES!  You read that right!!  I have officially signed a contract with Creativia, a publishing agency that I’m so extremely excited about, I can’t hardly stand it!!!

I signed on with this company a few weeks ago. They have taken all of my previous works and are giving everything a FULL makeover! All new covers. All more edits. All new formatting. And, the marketing provided by Creativia seems to be phenomenal! I’ve been watching the progress, and success of some of Creativia’s finest, and I’m thrilled to be a part of the team! I have several titles, so there is quite a bit of work to be done before this makeover and merge of my work is complete… so hold your breath! So far they’ve finished a round of edits on Aggravated Momentum, and have shown me two of my cover makeovers (and just WOW!  My new covers are to die for!!).

Not only that, but all of these changes are taking effect in the FALL which I LOVE!  I love everything about this time of year. The colors especially, and the weather where I live is perfect! Day time tank tops, and evening sweaters alone is a cause to celebrate. I’m an outdoorsy kind of gal, I spend a lot of time on the mountain and desert of Utah’s finest, so this season is absolutely gorgeous!

The only thing that can improve the season, is such amazing progress in my career!! Leaps and bounds my friends. My time spent, dedication to what I love, and the Law of Attraction is working in my favor! My baby steps forward, are transforming into a confident jog in the right direction. I can’t wait until I’m ready to RUN!

As for now, I’ve taken a break for a couple weeks, from practically everything writing. I’m sure you’ve noticed that I’ve spent little time here, and I apologize for that too! The mommy/wife life has been busy, and my entire schedule has done a flip on me. I’ve finally caught my breath, cleared my head, now it’s time to get back to doing what I love… and that’s WRITING!!  As all of my work to date is in the middle of everything everyone else has to do, and as I usually sit on my ass and wait, I’m not waiting. My break is complete so I’m currently working on books 2 and 3 of my Lamian trilogy. It’s a YA post apocalypse fantasy with a bit of a mythological twist. This series is completely different than my usual type of work, so the switch up is refreshing! I’m having a lot of fun with this one! I’ll keep you all posted when the next step takes place!

Another order of business, and a very exciting one, is that Kim Knight and I have gotten back to our short stories!!  We’ve been working on Vol. 2 of The Suspenseful Collection, as promised! We’ll be blowing your minds with a sample story very soon, so ‘hang onto your panties’ as Kim would say!  There will be some all new juicy romance scenes, shocking gore, action packed adventure, and even paranormal thrill rides! Stay tuned!!!

LASTLY, I started a monthly challenge for authors who blog, and I’m SO EXCITED!!  I really hope that some of you writers out there join in, because it’s a fun one! Here are the rules:

As the initiator: Every month I’ll give a real time circumstance, hang out spot, or every day situation. I’ll post the exact scene/challenge the first week of every month.

As an Author/challenge joiner: All you need to do is use the characters from your WIP (work in progress), or even a published works, and plug them into the given scene for a short story style post. It can be funny, serious, deadly, really just whatever you want as long as it’s true to your characters (as in, what they would actually do in this situation)!! It’s a fun way to be creative with those personalities that you as their creator love so much. It’s also a fun way to introduce them to the world and your blogs, without giving away your plots and twists… Just pure ‘meet my characters, and get to know their personalities’ separate from their book.

How we work together as Authors and the Initiator:  I’ll do my own scene/challenge post on the very last day of the month (that way I can be sure to link in every joiner, and you can do your posts at your own leisure). Write your scene’s anytime you wish, at any point of the month. All that I need is your final challenge post link. You can give it to me in any comment, or even link me into your post so that it’ll pop in my newsfeeds! So simple!

(If you do just link me in to your own posts, then make sure you use a regular blog post to link me in with, rather than my main page, that won’t actually give me a notification. I don’t want to skip anyone over!)

Septembers scene is: writing your characters at the poker table!!

    1. They are. New publishers make me a little nervous, so I’ve been watching them for just over a year, and keeping an eye on the authors. Seems to be an excellent place! I’m excited to grow with them all as a team. I think it’s going to be an amazing experience 😊

Congratulations, Didi! It’s wonderful to hear you are finally getting the recognition and respect you deserve! As far as apologizing for taking time to focus on yourself and your family, don’t be silly. We all need a break sometimes.

  9. Congrats on your deal, Didi! That’s amazing! Your story hit home for me, cause I had a similar publishing experience where I ended up begin ghosted by the people I was supposed to be working with. It was upsetting enough I quit writing/publishing for over a year. When I came back, I did a similar thing by revamping and republishing the title they had abandoned. It takes a lot of courage to pick ourselves up by our bootstraps sometimes, but it’s always encouraging to hear author’s stories. So excited for your future success! Also I LOVE your short story/month idea. Sad I missed Sept, but will join up for Oct 🙂

    1. Awesome, Jennifer! I’m so glad to have you join for Oct! I’ll be doing an announcement post tomorrow on the scene subject. I’m still deciding between a pool party scene, or sword fight lol. (Random, I know) …. I’m all ears if you have a preference 😉

I’m sorry to hear of your similar situation. Some publishers out there are really deceiving and rotten! I’m glad that you were also able to dust it off! Kudos, my friend! 🙂

      1. Hey Didi, this last month completely ran away from me! I’m back in action though. Haven’t checked yet but hope you’re doing a November prompt. Would love to join up! And I love the idea of a sword fight haha. I typically write fantasy though so that’s right up my alley 😉

Yeah, it’s sad how often that’s happened in this business. But I just see it now as part of the journey. We all have to learn differently, sometimes the hard way. 🙂

      2. Hi Jen, I think last month ran away with me too! Where does the time go? I love writing fantasy, I should more often than I do!!
