My friend today: “I can’t believe how many new authors there are out there.”
Me: “You have no idea. Hundreds every year. A lot of them are shady too.”
Friend: “How do you mean?”
Me: “Like, they write fake reviews for the attention and networking in it. Some advertise their stuff as being something it isn’t, just for the sales. People buy a crap ton of their own books, just to show as being a ‘best seller’ when they aren’t really. Publishing companies lie and cheat authors out of their work. There are even a ton of writers who steal other authors work too… plagiarism is huge, much bigger than you’d think!”
Friend: “So how do you plan to compete with that? I’m sure it’s only going to get worse, right?”
Me: “I don’t know… I guess I’ll just keep writing better shit than them!”

It really is terrible that it seems that there are people out there that seem to have lost their integrity (or never had it to begin with). I’m glad though you are not one of them, and can only say keep doing what you are doing. Because it’s awesome! 😊
