“An AwhHaw Moment Amongst Chaos” WIP Writing Scene Challenge, Nov!

November is a month of gratitude and reflection. But it’s also a month of social gatherings. I’m not sure about your family and friends, but with mine November is like the start to an insane amount of busy-ness and chaos. I have a really big family on both sides, and my husband’s is also fairly large. Aside from family dinners and parties for all the Holliday festivities in November and December, I also have a few friend events to look forward to. I’m in my mid thirties and still meet up with my girlfriends from highschool every month. So, for the hollidays this year we plan to craft, paint, and drink conciderably. I mean, what kind of life would it be if you couldn’t surround yourself with good friends, excellent food, ugly sweaters, and lots of wine… right?

I really debated on what type of scene to challenge everyone in joining me to write, by usuing the characters from your own works… be it previous publications, or your Work In Progress (hence the ‘WIP’ challenge title.) So I ultimatly decided … what the hell, lets combine the two biggest characteristics that November usually presents us with.

So, for the month of November, let’s use some sort of chaotic event to plug in a moment of reflection (or an AwhHah moment per say)!!

HOW THIS ENTIRE CHALLENGE WORKS, MONTHLY:

As the initiator: Every month I’ll give a real time circumstance, hang out spot, or every day situation. I’ll post the exact scene/challenge the first week of every month.

As an Author/challenge joiner: All you need to do is use the characters from your WIP (work in progress), or even a published works, and plug them into the given scene for a short story style post. It can be funny, serious, deadly, really just whatever you want as long as it’s true to your characters (as in, what they would actually do in this situation)!! It’s a fun way to be creative with those personalities that you as their creator love so much. It’s also a fun way to introduce them to the world and your blogs, without giving away your plots and twists… Just pure ‘meet my characters, and get to know their personalities’ separate from their book.

How we work together as Authors and the Initiator:  I’ll do my own scene/challenge post on the very last day of the month (that way I can be sure to link in every joiner, and you can do your posts at your own leisure). Write your scene’s anytime you wish, at any point of the month. All that I need is your final challenge post link. You can give it to me in any comment, or even link me into your post so that it’ll pop in my newsfeeds! So simple!

(If you do just link me in to your own posts, then make sure you use a regular blog post to link me in with, rather than my blog’s home page, that won’t actually give me a notification. I don’t want to skip anyone over! This particular post is ideal, but do your own thing.)

Is November already half way over?!?!?! WOW where does the time go!? Just a reminder, there is still plenty of time to join in Novembers scene writing challenge! Use the characters from your works and plug them into a short story style scene of the given theme. In light of the Holliday, his month’s scene prompt is:

    “An AwwHah Moment Amidst Chaos”

If you need a little example or inspiration then by all means check out the joiners from last months challenge of “Bump in the Night”

USA Today Best Selling Author Jacquie Biggar joined in the challenge. She wrote a very compelling scene to our Oct. theme of “Bump in the night” using the characters from her hit book, Skating On Thin Ice! She nailed it too, talk about the chills! Go. Check. It. Out.
