#review #poetry Milk and Honey, by Rapi Kaur #5star

MY REVIEW:

5+++ stars (I wish I could give it 10!)

This is the first book of poetry that literally left me speechless.
This is the first book of poetry that I highlighted the most powerful pages to me.
This is the first book of poetry that I felt in every single part of me.
This is the first book of poetry that I didn’t close after finishing, but flipped right back to the first page and read the entire thing through for a second time all in one sitting… followed up by the re-reading of my highlights for a third and even fourth time.

I’m stunned. I’ll be ordering a hardback as soon as I’m finished writing this review, just to have a copy that I can hold in my hands. If you’re yet to read this, then do yourself a favor and STOP PUTTING IT OFF, there’s a reason it shot up the charts and has stayed there.

DESCRIPTION:

#1 New York Times bestseller Milk and Honey is a collection of poetry and prose about survival. About the experience of violence, abuse, love, loss, and femininity.

The book is divided into four chapters, and each chapter serves a different purpose. Deals with a different pain. Heals a different heartache. Milk and Honey takes readers through a journey of the most bitter moments in life and finds sweetness in them because there is sweetness everywhere if you are just willing to look.

  1. I hate to do the whole self promo thing, but I have a poetry compilation book coming out come the 9th, if you’re interested in that type of thing.

    2. Hi Marysa! First off, Congrats on the release, that’s so exciting!! I have a bit of a love hate relationship with poetry. I tend to gravitate to very emotional/romantic stuff. The abstract and off-beat stuff I’m very choosy with. That said, I’d love to give it a read. If you’d like to reach out on my contact page, I’ll get right back with you for an ARC 🙂

  3. I was just thinking of this book…our local library had promoted it as a book that would become very real with highlighting, turned down corners, and splashed with the odd tea or coffee droplet! I was planning to seek out my own copy and your exciting review has me wanting to head to the nearest bookstore, pronto!
