Dump the Slump

Holy crap on a stick, this winter has sucked a ball sack.

That ^^ sentence right there, along with the slumppy tittle is all that I’ve had sitting in this pending post for like a week lol. I’ve been an emotional basket case lately and it’s really pulled me away from everything writing and bookish, which is fine as I was overwhelmed and had to prioritize my personal life in order to sort out my mental health some. Aside from a speed reading rampage that I went on for about a week and a half, I’ve really let myself get sucked into this weird in-between place of not knowing what the f**k. I usually hate complaining blog posts, both reading and writing them, but as of today, I just have to start with the complaints in order to accentuate the good. So bear with me.

Between bladder infections, ear infections, sinus infections, and a few rounds of the stomach flu, this season has been a rough one in my house! There’s been some hard to cope with losses and emotional dips in the last few months. Also, my six-year-old son was officially placed on the spectrum, which is bitter-sweet. We’ve known for a long time, but sitting down with the autism panel and seeing his name on that paper is still like a brick in the belly. All in all, it’s a good thing, and we wouldn’t want him to change a bit. He’s such an amazing kid, and the way his mind works is absolutely beautiful. We’ll now be able to get him all the help he needs throughout his school years, which is a wonderful thing! I’m blown away by all of the support and resources available to spectrum families… it’s like being completely washed over by a wave of humility and gratitude!

That said… things are finally looking up in the bookish department too!!! My publisher is working on the cover images and edits for both of my next new releases to come Justice for Belle and Sketch!  Woot woot, I can’t wait to move along with these books!  This year may have started out on the rough side, but I just know that it’s going to end with the such an amazing and positive bang!

Along with those 2 titles I’m diving into the revisions of book 2 in the Lamian trilogy next week! AND things are getting back on track with Kim Knight and I in our short story collection. We’ll be releasing the second Suspenseful Collection anthology soon WOOTWOOT!!!

For a little recap on our first set, grab a copy…. is ALWAYS only 99 cents!!

(For mature readers only! So if you can’t handle sex, swears, inappropriate snark and gore then by all means skip it over lol)

LASTLY, things are still rockin’ and rollin’ with my monthly WIP writing challenge and this is possibly one of the BEST MONTHS YET!! I chose to go with a romance scene theme, so if you would like to join in and write the characters from your WIP or even a previously published works in a juicy romance scene then feel free to join in!!  It’s a fun way to introduce your characters and sharpen your writing craft! It’s two weeks into the month and we’ve already had a couple short story/scenes written by Kayla on the Yukunerk blog, and one by Kristian over at Life Lessons From Around the Dinner Table blog. Both stories are beautiful, so check them out! I’ll also be linking them in on the final, end of the month scene of my own.

  2. So sorry to hear you have been ill, Didi. I hope everyone is on the mend. I found it a relief when Gregory was diagnosed (with OCD and PTSD) at least we could start a treatment programme. Good luck with your son.

I hope everyone is back to “normal” in terms of health! Best of luck with your son. I have several friends who are either on the spectrum, or have children on the spectrum. They are heroes and heroines, to me. You are a warrior, and so is your son! Hugs!! Also, I should be posting my WIP challenge next week!

  5. Sorry to hear of your frustrations Didi. But you seem to be winning overall. Which I guess is what counts. ASD is annoying at times I can say but your son is still normal. It is is his kind of normal. And a normal shared by a lot of us.
