DEC. WIP Writing Prompt Challenge: Winter Tradition

A blanket of the purest snow covers the ground, revealing only bumps and dips as to what lies beneath it. Rolling hills are bright and clean, reflecting the light of the sun against their white glowing luminescence. The beauty in winter is a soul calming thing… that is until you step out into its cold wetness!

I’m not a big fan of being cold, or of being tricked, therefore winter is my least favorite season. However, there’s an underlying of worth to this season of icy chill for us writers. When we’re holed up inside our warm homes, with the fireplaces dancing and the furnaces racking up outrageous gas bills, we have a little more time to WRITE! At least I do. Despite all of the holliday tasks, and the fighting storms to run kids around to their extra curricular activities, I’m still finding myself inside much more often.

Win Win in my book, as this is what makes our lives well rounded. Us writers are truly blessed with an inside hobby to divulge on in the cold winter months. While others are getting stir crazy, feeling all cooped up, we lose ourselves in our projects.

Speaking of projects, I apologize that it’s taken me a few days to come up with this month’s WIP challenge! I bounced back and forth in mind before settling on a topic that I love. For those of you that are new to the WIP challenge, then let me give you a quick run down. There is also a full description at the end of the post. It’s super easy, all you need to do is take the characters from your WIP (or any works really) and plug then into a scene using my prompt any time during the month. That easy!! Comment on this post with you link, and I’ll plug your scene into my own post on the last day of the month.

SOOOOO without any further ado….. DEC 2019 WIP PROMPT CHALLENGE IS:

WINTER TRADITION

That’s right writers, I want to see the characters that you already love so much indulging themselves in a winter tradition. Anything goes as long as it’s true to your character’s personality and settings. I look forward to reading your scenes!!!

HOW IT WORKS

As the initiator: Every month I’ll give a real time circumstance, hang out spot, or every day situation. I’ll post the exact scene/challenge the first week of every month.

As an Author/challenge joiner: All you need to do is use the characters from your WIP (work in progress), or even a published works, and plug them into the given scene for a short story style post. It can be funny, serious, deadly, really just whatever you want as long as it’s true to your characters (as in, what they would actually do in this situation)!! It’s a fun way to be creative with those personalities that you as their creator love so much. It’s also a fun way to introduce them to the world and your blogs, without giving away your plots and twists… Just pure ‘meet my characters, and get to know their personalities’ separate from their book.

How we work together as Authors and the Initiator:  I’ll do my own scene/challenge post on the very last day of the month (that way I can be sure to link in every joiner, and you can do your posts at your own leisure). Write your scene’s anytime you wish, at any point of the month. All that I need is your final challenge post link.

I keep meaning to join this prompt, but I never come around to it. Winter isn’t my favorite season either, I hate the cold – though it’s a beautiful season.

I love this!! I’m going to try very hard to get back to your prompts this month. I’m so bummed that I missed November’s but it was a crazy busy month! My husband took me on a surprise weekend getaway for my birthday. My best friend threw me a surprise party, and then family came and stayed almost 2 weeks to celebrate Thanksgiving! December has also been busy, but I will have more down time than I did in November. ❤ Thank you again for hosting these! I always look forward to your prompts!

    1. Oh what a fun month!! I wish my husband would take me for a surprise get away lol!!! I look forward to your scenes too, I’m not going to lie I was a little bummed to miss out on Micheal at a cozy in Thanksgiving. Not to worry though, I can imagine how perfectly romantic his holliday was 😉

I hate to be a total spammer, but I wrote this story the other day as my Annual Christmas Fun non-canon story and it seemed to go with this prompt of Winter Tradition so…. 😉 I decided to include it over here. Hope you don’t mind!
