Well, bloggers/writers, this month’s WIP Writing Challenge prompt is kind of a no brainer! I wanted to stick true to the chaos in the world right now, because we’re all stuck fighting a global pandemic, so clearly our Work In Progress characters are being affected in one way or another. Not only that, but as much as we want to use reading and writing as an escape from our current circumstances, which vary depending on our physical location on this pained planet Earth, we also want to shout our opinions from the rooftops!
I don’t want to hear of sickness and dying from the virus, because it’s real, and it’s too sad, and it’s scary AF!! But, if we want to shout out our daily insanities during a time of isolation, then why can’t our characters too? At first, I was torn between the prompts, ‘temporary insanity’ and ‘empty streets’… but then I decided, what the hell, why can’t I combine them?!?!?!
So here it is writers…. This pick for April’s WIP Monthly Writing challenge is…..
…. Drumrolllllllllllll…….
The Temporary Insanity of Our Empty Streets
If you’re new to my blog, or to my monthly WIP writing challenge, then I’ve included the rules below, it’s super-d-duper easy! Basically I want to read what the characters from your work in progress would do in the circumstance of my prompt!! I look forward to reading your scenes writers!!! Ready GO!
HOW IT WORKS
As the initiator: Every month I’ll give a real time circumstance, hang out spot, or every day situation. I’ll post the exact scene/challenge the first week of every month.
As an Author/challenge joiner: All you need to do is use the characters from your WIP (work in progress), or even a published works, and plug them into the given scene for a short story style post. It can be funny, serious, deadly, really just whatever you want as long as it’s true to your characters (as in, what they would actually do in this situation)!! It’s a fun way to be creative with those personalities that you as their creator love so much. It’s also a fun way to introduce them to the world and your blogs, without giving away your plots and twists… Just pure ‘meet my characters, and get to know their personalities’ separate from their book.
How we work together as Authors and the Initiator: I’ll do my own scene/challenge post on the very last day of the month (that way I can be sure to link in every joiner, and you can do your posts at your own leisure). Write your scenes anytime you wish, at any point of the month. All that I need is your final challenge post link commented here on this post.
I LOOK FORWARD TO READING YOUR SCENES!!! THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR JOINING WRITERS. STAY SAFE, STAY HEALTHY, AND WASH YOUR DAMN HANDS! 🙂
Ooo! I can see a couple of intriguing situations for my characters with this one.

I’m working on one right now with Ambrose. It’s probably one of the easiest ones I’ve written for him. 😆

We can blend in conspiracy theories, right? Blur the lines between truth and fiction? Make “The Shining” read like a children’s book replete with purple dinosaurs?

Can we steal “Johnny Smith” from the “Dead Zone” and have the Michael Anthony Hall TRANSMIT upon touching as well as receive visions?

So…. I went crazy with this story and it ended up being multiple parts, but I think part 1 will also work as a stand alone. ❤ Thank you again for doing these! They are so much fun!!
