Birthday Time!!

I can’t believe I’m 36 years old today and not a millionaire yet. I feel kind of weird about it lol. Nonetheless, here I am, living the American dream of freedom, debt and bad eating habits. On the plus side, I’ve made more book sales this year than ever before, so I’ll take that slight incline as a sign of blessings on the horizon. I also have a lot to be grateful for in my old-middleish-old age. I’ve been blessed with two amazing kids who have pampered me all morning with coffee, feeding themselves cereal so that I don’t have to cook, and foot massages. They’re the sweetest little twerps on this planet!

Anyhow, in light of my reflective gratitude on this lovely day of my birth – I’m sharing a poem. I hope you enjoy it. A WOMAN IN HER 30s

She wakes with a strech

Till she remembers it hurts

The creeks and the pops

The too tight shirts

She’s put on some pounds

Hair starting to thin

And just when she thinks

That she can’t loose to win

She looks at her life

Through detached eyes

She truly sees herself

As if from above

Counts her blessings and cries

Although the curves of her face

Are beginning to wrinkle

And the skin on her arms

Is loose, even crinkles

She’s learned enough lessons

To fully grasp

That life’s joys have just started

She’ll make them last

She knows about love

She’s felt it deep

Given it fully

Let it marrinate and seep

Into her bones

Her body and mind

She’s overflowing with growth

She’s ready to find

The purpose of life

She’s halfway through

Ready to stand

Ready to move

This woman is beauty

In life’s truest form

She’s earned those pops and wrinkles

Moving with grace

Through the storm
